travel guides
There are many guidebooks out on Prague these days (and of course I like mine the best!). But some are better than others. I really do think Rick Steves does a good job, and I especially think his "Europe Through the Back Door" is a good companion for American travelers. I also like the DK Eyewitness Travel Guide series, and in addition to the general books I've listed here, they also each have guidebooks on Prague. And the Prague literary companion is a good place to begin to absorb Prague's culture before you arrive.

If you like to journal, consider getting Moleskine's excellent travel journal. And there's even a book that will help you know what to be sure to pack - and not!
